Photography 70-73/365

A bit of jumble this week with my photos. I am enjoying thinking about photography even though I'm not necessarily doing the photographing, if you know what I mean. This project is definitely making me more aware of my surroundings, and that's really good for my mental and emotional state.

70/365: show me heaven

This could quite possibly be one of my favourite shots, taken with my iPhone on my walk to work on Wednesday. The sun was rising, creating a magnificent glow that gave the Sky Tower such a great back light.

71/365: good night daylight

72/365: morning ritual

My arms get a great workout every morning plunging my coffee at work.

73/365: across the school field

If we are not sailing around the world when my son is five this is the school field he will run around on. It's been mighty cold this week, and the morning frost looks almost like a coating of snow on the grass.

What projects are you working on at the moment? How hard do have to work at it? I'd love to hear your thoughts.

Photography 65-66/365

I haven't touched the DSLR for days. I hate saying I've been so busy - seems that's the standard answer in everyone's lives. The trusty iPhone is always with me though.

65/365: yellow

One of NZ's natives, the Kowhai tree sports bright, happy looking flowers. I always stop to admire the yellow bloomage whenever I come across a Kowhai.

66/365: motley crew

I walk through the park every day, and as the trees are stripped bare through the winter the grass looks like it's covered by a brown motley blanket.

Photography 61-63/365

Even a coffee house across the road from an Art Gallery is creative and artful. I guess they need to fit into the genre.

I try to drink at least a litre of water a day, and the only way of achieving that is by having a one litre flask of chilled water on my desk, and sculling a glassful every time I think about it. The other day I thought my glass looked so pretty when I put it down on my desk.

Photography 56-58/365: Home and away

One way to get me inspired with photography is to show me some creative photos, and after looking at a few awesome sites I am back in the head space of why I wanted to do a 365 project in the first place.

On Saturday night I came home to candles strategically placed all around the house. Jef wanted me to feel cosy (I'm guessing) while he went off to work for a few hours. It's amazing how easy it is to create ambience.

While at Ambury Regional Park I observed how awesome the clouds were, and just as equally awesome is the number 8 wire fence - an icon in this country.

I love how a "no junk mail" sign on a letter box does not apply when it comes to charity clothing collectors. The pink plastic bag made such a great contrast along this road.

Photography 52-55/365

Gosh, I didn't think taking a photo a day would be so difficult! I'm really trying to improve on my creativity and technique, hence why I set myself this challenge. I'm thinking I need to get a theme or join a linky party - maybe it may inspire more creativity.

This staircase located at the Events Centre is so cool with it's shiny red paint and port hole like lights. I fixed the white balance during post processing by dividing the colour that is supposed to be white out of the picture.

Not a lot of Caucasians understand Asian dessert. Jef often says that beans don't belong in a dessert. I beg to differ. Beans, seaweed, barley, water chestnut and re-concentrated dry fruit make a perfect desert.

North Wharf at night - simply magical.

I've been trying to improve on my night photography. I don't want to push my iso any higher because the shots are too grainy coming out of the Nikon D40.

Photography 50-51/365: Marshmallow skies open

Dramatic skies are the best. I love clouds, and I notice them a lot. As the sun is sinking a lot earlier these days I'm witnessing beautiful skies while walking home.

Photography 48-49/365: Between the afternoon glow

The weather has been cold, but it hasn't been raining so I'm not complaining. I witnessed a beautiful sunset that made the skyline glow while walking home from work through Victoria Park on Thursday evening. I snapped this pic with my iPhone. I stood there, between the afternoon glow...

Thin glass panes stood between myself and a two hour schema mapping meeting I was about to walk into yesterday. As I stood there hugging my laptop as I took this shot I couldn't help but think that the glass panes metaphorically stood between my life as a mother versus my career. To be honest I would have much rather been hugging my little boy than my laptop at that point in time.

Photography (and recipe) 46/365: Mulled wine

750ml - 1 litre apple juice (depending on how sweet your taste buds are)
10 cardamom pods
10 cloves
1 cinnamon stick
1 bottle cheap Shiraz or Merlot (don't waste your money on anything above $9)
Rind and juice of 1 orange (optional)

Put everything except wine into a pan and bring to boil. Simmer for 5-10 minutes to allow flavour from spices to develop. Add wine and heat through with lid on. Don't overheat because the alcohol will evaporate - and no one wants that to happen!

Enjoy!

Photography 41-44/365: Walking the weather, dry, morning moon and pyjama party

I'm glad to see people are not scared of a little bit of rain. They go walking anyway.

Jef's sister made the most yummiest sandwiches today for our celebratory lunch. They were creamy and smokey from the chicken, with a burst of flavour in the form of chopped apricots. Such a great idea!
